AJP – Proud Sponsor of Honda of America Racing Team
When Bryan Johnson of Honda of America Racing Team (HART) asked Doug Macmillan of Hondata for advice on boosting his 2006 Honda Civic Si race car, he was told “AJ Performance”. Over the last two months, Bryan and his team installed and tested the AJ Performance turbo kit.
Their target race was the Redline Time Attack, a series of races throughout the race season which pits cars against the clock, fastest lap wins the race. Points are awarded and the one with the most points at the end of the season wins.
HART made it to the last race of the season, held at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR). What happened stunned the field.
Bryan relates:
“The car was a blast to drive, and I think we really showed the potential of the Civic Si. In its first ever Time Attack event, we shattered last year’s VIR FWD record by 7 seconds. I was hitting 150mph on both the front and back straight and entering the high speed Esses at 140!”
Mike Bonanni, in announcing the Redline Time Attack winners at VIR, wrote:
“Capping off the Unlimited classes was Bryan Johnson in the Honda of America Racing [Team] Honda Civic Si running un-opposed, but setting a new class record in Unlimited FWD with a blistering fast 2:03.789.”
Bryan thanked his sponsors:
“Special thanks to all of the companies that contributed to our Civic project:
AJ Performance, Hondata, Hoosier, Forgeline, Koni, Exedy, Hawk Performance, Brembo, Driveshaft Shop, Corsa, APR, Seibon, Algie Composites, and AEM.”
HART will now retire to their shop and start working on a number of enhancements for next year’s Redline Time Attack season, with the goal of unseating the 2008 Unlimited Class FWD winner Chris Rado of WORLD Racing who drives a Toyota Scion tC.
AJ Performance congratulates Bryan on his outstanding performance and wishes him the best of luck in the 2009 racing season. We expect to see him drenched in champagne at the end of the season.
