Car owner’s attempt to improve performance goes bad
AJ Performance recently had to to do an engine transplant after an experiment with the fuel management system went awry. The owner attempted to lean out the air-fuel mixture in order to get more horsepower. Unfortunately, the mixture was too lean, blowing a hole in the piston and breaking the rod. This then resulted in another gaping hole, specifically in the wallet, through which a lot of money went towards a new engine.
As electronics get more sophisticated, so does the required skill level in adjusting it. As Harry Callahan famously put it, “A man’s got to know his limitations.”
Speaking of burning a hole in your pocket, here’s a non-AJ Performance video of what nitrous can do to a motor:

wow! that really sux..what kind of car was it? and it was the owners attempt?
Ron did not want me to release the make/model of the Japanese-made car. And yes, it was the owner’s attempt. His car spent two more days in the shop having the motor replaced.
