AJP shop car barrels past 700 whp

The AJP turbo kit proved its ruggedness once again in a recent tuning session as the AJP shop car cranked out over 700 whp on the dyno. Video and graph to come.

Chris from Fort Meyers, FL is a very happy driver. He had plenty of time to enjoy more whp on the 4-hour drive from Fort Lauderdale, FL back home. Well, it was less than 4 hours because of the new AJP test pipe he had us install on his 2007 Civic SI.

Making Drive-by Videos

The stillness of a lonely, rural road in Port St. Lucie, FL was shattered by the sounds of an AJP turbo kit. The AJP shop car and a black SI belonging to Jorge (winner of our 2007 Dyno Day Forced Induction category) took turns driving up and down as I tried to frame their cars.

This was the shop car’s first real test of its rebuilt motor out on the streets. Ron reports that everything went perfectly, from his 75-minute drive up to Port St. Lucie to the drive-bys. No Check Engine Lights, hiccups or glitches.

AJP Shop Car Flexes Its Muscle

With a belly full of Thanksgiving fixin’s, Ron decided to kick off Black Friday by shopping for horsepower.

He didn’t have to look far.

They were in abundance underneath the hood of the shop car, just waiting to come out. With a cool breeze blowing through, the beast motor roared to life. Felito sat behind the wheel, Ron watched the computer and Papo helped with the adjustments and tweaking.

Wheels on the Civic Go Round and Round

The AJP car is finally on the move, taking its first few steps. Its full-throated roar, with a new low-frequency rumble complementing its higher-pitched engine sound, gives hint of massive power. But high rpms and insane horsepower are still weeks away. For now, it’s like learning to walk all over again.

Paint Left Peeling Off Shop Walls

If there was one common sound that AJ Performance personnel heard on Halloween, it was ringing. Not the ringing of doorbells by trick-or-treaters but the ringing in the ears caused by a Ligier SCCA Road Race car. Dominic, who lives in South Florida, was referred to AJ Performance by Hondata for the tuning of his Honda-powered car.

AJP Shop Motor Picks Up More Hardware

The AJP motor inches toward completion. Portworks Racing Dynamics has finished work on their first K-Series motor, having worked on many other types of motors from four cylinders to eight. Infiniti G35 Brute Forces Past Competition

Cesar, from Coral Springs, FL, watched his 2006 Infiniti G35 muscle its way past a 2007 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner to win first place in the AJP Dyno Day Highest Horsepower All-Motor category. Only a scant 11 hp separated his winning pull of 269 hp and second place. But it wasn’t the Toyota that he was happiest about; rather, it was beating a Nissan 350Z by almost 20 hp that was most satisfying. Cesar has a 3.5-liter V6 motor, dual exhaust and a pulley kit.
