Car Trailers at PRI

Huge Luxury Trailers For You and Your Car

Renegade 19' Volvo ToterhomeWhile the bulk of the booths at PRI 2008 contained parts that you could wrap your arms around, there was one segment of displays that you had to *walk* around - the trailers. One company, Star Transporters, specialized in preparing trailers for motorsports activities. Their biggest model on display was a Renegade 19′ Volvo Toterhome.

What was particularly noteworthy was the car in the back of the trailer, owned by the 2008 Redline Time Attack Unlimited Class, Front-Wheel Drive Champion Chris Rado. Chris will be pursued by the AJP-Sponsored Honda of America Racing Team in the 2009 Redline Time Attack Series.

Of the many trailers that were there, this was definitely one of the granddaddys in size and cost. It’s amazing how space there is inside one of these things for both people and multiple cars.

I wonder if AJ Performance should give one away for our Customer of the Year program?

Vibrant Performance’s New VanJen Clamp at PRI 2008

VanJen Clamp Matches Wiggins Clamp But Beats its Price

Vibrant Performance VanJen ClampVibrant Performance showed off its new VanJen Clamp at the [WPMID=1] Show in Orlando, FL this past weekend. It is a lightweight clamp that assembles and disassembles quickly and easily, yet provides a secure air-tight connection. Its price is much less than the Wiggins Clamp, yet it has pretty much the same functionality.

It can flex up to 12 degrees, so it is ideal for connections that take a beating in high-vibration environments. It can also handle up to 110 psi and 400 degrees F so it would work well in turbo intake plumbing.

The aluminum or stainless steel weld fittings are welded to their respective parts. The black aluminum union sleeve fits over the joint and the clamp fits over the union sleeve. A locking pin prevents accidental disconnections.

The clamp is available in 2.5″, 3.0″, 3.5″ and 4.0″ outer diameters.

Wavetrac differential for Honda Civic Si

AJP Turboed Cars May Benefit From Wavetrac Differential

Wavetrac differential at PRI 2008Autotech Sport Tuning, south of Los Angeles in Aliso Viejo, CA, has a product that promises to alleviate the problems associated with high-horsepower front-wheel-drive cars, such as the Honda Civic Si with the AJP turbo kit. The company, normally associated with Volkswagens, introduced the Wavetrac differential in May 2008 with the promise of minimizing torque steer, improving launches and enhancing cornering.

The Honda Civic Si has about a 70%-30% distribution of power between the drive wheels. Under boost, AJP turbo kit customers can experience uneven launches and fishtailing. The Wavetrac differential balances it out to about 50% to each wheel. This means straight launches and no fishtailing.

Here is a link to the product announcement and subsequent user feedback.

Precision Turbo unveils V-band clamp inlet option at PRI 2008

V-band inlet option adds low-end power to turbo

Here at [WPMID=1] in Orlando, FL, Precision Turbo introduced a new V-band clamp inlet option to the turbo that powers the AJP turbo kit, the 6262S. By doing away with the T4 flange, the turbo delivers more power to the low end, the installation is faster and simpler and there is no more gasket to deal with.

There is no price increase for this feature.

AJP is definitely considering this option. It would require redesigning the turbo exhaust manifold to accommodate the V-band clamp but the benefits far outweigh the costs.
