Car Trailers at PRI

Huge Luxury Trailers For You and Your Car

Renegade 19' Volvo ToterhomeWhile the bulk of the booths at PRI 2008 contained parts that you could wrap your arms around, there was one segment of displays that you had to *walk* around - the trailers. One company, Star Transporters, specialized in preparing trailers for motorsports activities. Their biggest model on display was a Renegade 19′ Volvo Toterhome.

What was particularly noteworthy was the car in the back of the trailer, owned by the 2008 Redline Time Attack Unlimited Class, Front-Wheel Drive Champion Chris Rado. Chris will be pursued by the AJP-Sponsored Honda of America Racing Team in the 2009 Redline Time Attack Series.

Of the many trailers that were there, this was definitely one of the granddaddys in size and cost. It’s amazing how space there is inside one of these things for both people and multiple cars.

I wonder if AJ Performance should give one away for our Customer of the Year program?

AEM at PRI 2008

AEM, Maker of F/IC that Helps Power the AJP Turbo Kit
AEM's Fuel/Ignition Controller at PRI 2008The AEM Fuel/Ignition Controller propelled the AJP Turbo kit to huge horsepower in 2008. It cleared the 8.5 psi barrier that was imposed by the Hondata reflash, which was a frustrating limit for customers up until F/IC’s addition to the kit in Spring 2008.

By raising the boost limit to 11 psi on stock motors and the low 20s on built motors, customer cars now have the best of both worlds - the stability of the Hondata reflash for daily driving and the extra horsepower needed for racing.

Honda of America Racing Team turns up the boost

Honda of America Racing Team Post-Race Boost Test

It didn’t take but two days after setting the front-wheel drive record at the Redline Time Attack race for Honda of America Racing Team’s Bryan Johson to start tinkering with the AJP turbo kit boosting the team’s 2006 Honda Civic Si. Having run conservatively to make it through the race and breaking the old record for the by 7 seconds, he wanted to start improving the times for next year.

At race time, the HART car was getting 449 hp / 379 tq to the flywheel at 14 psi as measured on their Dynapack dyno. Bryan dialed it up to 17.5 psi and got 493 hp / 406 tq to the flywheel.

The car is known as the “1 Lap” car for its participation in the 2006 One Lap of America race, but with the planned modifications, Bryan reports that it will be much more difficult to run a race as long and as grueling as the One Lap Race.

GT Live - Redline Time Attack, October 5, 2008

Virginia International Raceway

In the final race of the 2008 season, the HART Time Attack Civic Si took home 1st place in the Unlimited Front-Wheel-Drive class, and an impressive 5th overall among all competitors!

The car ran flawlessly all weekend, thanks to the expert tuning of Doug Macmillan from Hondata. After some conservative runs on Friday and Saturday, driver and project leader Bryan Johnson turned up the boost on the AJP turbo kit for Sunday’s Time Attack session. The result was a best lap of 2:03.79, which shattered the FWD Time Attack record by 7 seconds!

At 14 psi, the HART Civic Si was making over 450 horsepower with the help of the free-flowing Corsa exhaust and AEM fuel supply components. All of that power made it to the ground through the Exedy twin-disc racing clutch and beefy Driveshaft Shop axles.

The HART tuned suspension pulled up to 1.5 lateral G in the corners thanks to the super-sticky Hoosier tires, Forgeline wheels, and Koni dampers. The APR rear wing and custom front splitter kept the car glued to the track in the high speed Esses at 140mph!

The Civic reached top speeds of 150mph on the straights, and when it was time to slow down, the Brembo GT front brakes, Hawk Performance DTC pads, and custom carbon-fiber brake ducts made with the help of Algie Composites provided fade-free stopping power.

The team is excited to continue to develop the Civic Si’s performance over the winter and contend for the 2009 Redline Time Attack Championship. Thanks again to all of our contributing sponsors!

HART’s Redline Time Attack Summary

AJP - Proud Sponsor of Honda of America Racing Team

When Bryan Johnson of Honda of America Racing Team (HART) asked Doug Macmillan of Hondata for advice on boosting his 2006 Honda Civic Si race car, he was told “AJ Performance”. Over the last two months, Bryan and his team installed and tested the AJ Performance turbo kit.

Their target race was the Redline Time Attack, a series of races throughout the race season which pits cars against the clock, fastest lap wins the race. Points are awarded and the one with the most points at the end of the season wins.

HART made it to the last race of the season, held at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR). What happened stunned the field.

HART Completes Redline Time Attack with AJP

5th Place Finish for Honda of America Racing Team

Honda of America Racing Team with AJP turbo

Bryan Johnson drove the Honda of America Racing Team’s 2006 Honda Civic SI to 5th place out of 11 entrants in the Unlimited Class of the Redline Time Attack at Virginia International Raceway. Two more cars entered Day 2 after missing Day 1, both rear-wheel drive, keeping HART the only entrant in the front-wheel drive subclass.

We spoke with Bryan and he thinks that he would have been able to beat the other front wheel drives, had they shown up. He has some ideas to speed things up and dominate the front-wheel drive class next year.

The car has the following:

  • Sleeved block K24
  • forged pistons and rods
  • unported TSX head
  • 06 TSX intake cam
  • RSX-S exhaust cam

Not only did the car finish with a great time, but it avoided the fate of several cars which dropped out of the race through collisions, mechanical failures, electrical failures and other nasty issues.

AJP Turbo Kit powers HART in Redline Time Attack

After Day 1 of the two-day Redline Time Attack competition at Virginia International Raceway this weekend, Honda of America Racing Team (HART) driver Bryan Johnson ran an overall 5th best time in the Unlimited Division out of nine cars.

Regrettably, Johnson is the only entrant in the Unlimited Front Wheel Drive subdivision, so he has no direct competition. However, he is faster than four out of the five Rear Wheel Drive cars.

In an earlier practice session, Johnson placed third overall in a field of 20 cars including both the Modified Division and Unlimited Division, beating out an All-Wheel Drive Subaru Imprezza WRX by a mere tenth of a second.

Bryan drives a white and red 2006 Honda Civic SI coupe with 464 hp, 346 ft-lb torque at 15 psi, powered by the AJP turbo kit and customized Hondata tuning. His goal is to make it through the race without blowing anything up. From the looks of it, he’s doing quite well.
