AJP Shop Car On the Move

by DavidY on November 11, 2007

Wheels on the Civic Go Round and Round

AJP Shop car left front wheelThe AJP car is finally on the move, taking its first few steps. Its full-throated roar, with a new low-frequency rumble complementing its higher-pitched engine sound, gives hint of massive power. But high rpms and insane horsepower are still weeks away. For now, it’s like learning to walk all over again.

The motor is being broken in gradually and safely. After an exploratory run around the block, it went on the dyno and got 330 whp at 6000 rpm with no boost. The oil is still not dark brown. The car needs some miles on it before it can start sprinting.

Enjoy the pictures.

Wow,That is just evil looking…Is it me or does it look alot meaner and agressive?..

Wait until you hear its sound. It’s like that little kid you knew way back when who went away, grew up and lifted weights.

I have some footage on my cell phone but after listening to it, I decided it would not do it any justice, so I’ll have to wait and get some real footage with my regular video equipment.

David the video man! With a cell phone cam?

DavidY November 16, 2007 at 22:17

Yeah well, I don’t lug around all of that equipment with me 24 x 7. I’ll get that sound soon enough.

Man that is just sick… so let me get this straight… the shop car put down 330whp with the new internals alone?!?! If so I can just imagine what things will be like with bOost =]

I’m glad you asked. There appears to be different ways of understanding “no boost”. This being a turbo setup, there is always boost. What is meant here, and what Ron has confirmed, is that the boost controller was off. So there was no added boost – simply what the wastegate was supplying.

Next time I’m down there…Ron owe’s me a ride in it! Very nice fellas…very nice.
